The Bias of Language, The Bias of Pictures Blog 3

Postman and Powers argue that the news does not give you the audience the entire story every time. If they were to do that they would have to go into too much explanation and detail, let’s face it time is money. Postman and Powers needed to explain to you the difference between language, stationary pictures and moving pictures so you would understand how they each affect you and the way TV stations forward information out on the current things happening. They wanted to paint a clear picture that information is easily interpreted in an incorrect manner and then forwarded to viewers through news, tabloids, or newspapers.  That’s why it is so important to get as much information out as reasonably possible in the allotted time frame. The authors claim that television news shows distort the truth by altering or manufacturing and that television viewers are defenseless even if a recreation is properly labeled.
